The Shia Scholars Council in Herat calls on the government to support the popular forces in their fight against Taliban terrorists

The Shia Scholars Council in Herat called on the Afghan government to support the popular forces in their fight against the rebellion of the Taliban terrorist movement.
The head of the council, Sheikh Muhammad Musa Rezaei, said in a press interview, that Taliban had made great progress and took control of many areas with the aim of controlling Herat province, but Taliban’s large-scale attack faced popular resistance led by Amir Ismail Khan, a famous jihadist, as the most important Taliban bases were destroyed in the Siaoshan district of Herat.
He added, that Herat is a gateway to enter the other provinces of Afghanistan, including Badghis and even the province of Balkh.
He continued, “The Shias, especially those residing in the central areas who live on the outskirts of Herat, have volunteered to fight the Taliban and defend Herat, but the government has ignored them and did not provide them with weapons and equipment.”
The head of the Shia Scholars Council in Herat emphasized that if the government did not change its orientations and did not provide support to the popular forces, Herat would undoubtedly fall, just as the government.
