Saudi authorities release two prominent human rights activists

The human rights organization ALQST announced that the Saudi authorities have released the two activists, Samar Badawi and Nassima Al-Sada, three years after their arrest.
The organization said, in a tweet, that “the two prominent human rights activists, Samar Badawi and Nassima Al-Sadah, were released after the end of their sentences.”
The Saudi authorities arrested Badawi in mid-2018, and she had been arrested several times over the past years, knowing that her ex-husband and the father of her daughter, lawyer Walid Abu al-Khair, has also been detained for years.
Samar Badawi was awarded the US International Women of Courage Award in 2012, and was among the first women to sign a petition calling on the government to allow women to drive, vote and run in local elections.
As for the activist, Al-Sada, a Saudi court issued a decision to imprison her about three years ago, and two years with a suspended sentence, and she was arrested in mid-2018.
It is worth mentioning that the Saudi authorities released, yesterday, Mullah Muhammad Bojbara, after being detained for several months for filming a video on Arbaeen in Bar al-Asfar, al-Ahsa.
