Thousands of Muslims organized protests in several Canadian cities to condemn the phenomenon of Islamophobia, after the crime of running over a Muslim family on June 6 in London, Ontario.
This move came as an initiative called by the Muslim Association of Canada (MAC), in cooperation with more than 100 Islamic institutions and civil society organizations, and was implemented in 11 cities, including Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver, as well as Calgary, Edmonton and Kitchener, in addition to London – Ontario, which witnessed the crime.
The Muslim Association of Canada said that thousands of members of society responded to its call across the country, “of all ages, races and religions, and wore the color violet in solidarity with the Muslims in their struggle and movement against Islamophobia, and to emphasize their unity for the sake of Canada.”
