Japanese Muslims demanded that the government allocate land for the construction of an Islamic cemetery, which they use to bury the bodies of their dead, according to their Islamic rituals.
According to press sources, there is only a small number of cemeteries in Japan that agree to bury Muslims according to their religious rituals, especially in western Japan, where Muslims suffer greatly from this issue.
The head of an Islamic group in western Japan, Muhammad Taher Abbas, submitted a request to the Japanese Ministry of Health to allocate a plot of land for the burial of Muslims in accordance with the teachings of the Islamic religion.
Although the Islamic group purchased land at its own expense, it did not obtain a license from the government to turn it into an Islamic cemetery.
The group calls for allocating an Islamic cemetery in each province to allow Muslims to bury their dead according to the teachings of their religion.
The suffering increases as the number of Muslim immigrants increases in Japan, as statistics indicate that there are 230 thousand Muslims in Japan in 2019, which means that the number of Muslims has doubled during the past decade.
