French security reveals a plot to kill Muslims prepared by an extremist right-wing group

The French newspaper, Mediapart, revealed that a French far-right group had plotted to poison food products in halal food stores, with the aim of killing Muslims in 2018.
The newspaper stated that the plot was prepared by the extremist French “Movement of Operational Forces” (AFO) in 2018, noting the arrest of 15 members of the movement, which incited “to fight Muslims and carry out acts of violence.”
It explained that the members of the movement, through “Operation Halal”, aimed to poison food products in shops selling halal food, but two of its members opposed carrying out the operation to avoid the risk of killing children and the elderly.
The newspaper pointed out that the French General Directorate of Internal Security obtained information that the movement was preparing to carry out an “attack on 200 imams.”
During the searches carried out in the homes of the suspects, including public servants, retired police officers and former soldiers, materials used in the manufacture of explosives and large quantities of weapons were seized.
