Sayed Moqtada al-Sadr, leader of the Iraqi Sadrist movement, called on Saudi Arabia, especially Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, to rebuild the holy graves of the four Infallible Imams of Baqi al-Gharqad, whose shrines were razed by Saudi authorities decades ago.
Sadr said, “The eighth of Shawwal is the sorrowful anniversary of the demolition of the Baqi graves in Saudi Arabia by the hands of extremists who claim to be Muslim, and dozens of years passed, and the kingdom was gripped by hard-liners and slaughters.”
“Today, the Kingdom is actively seeking to correct the route, reject extremism and renounce sectarianism to extricate itself from the above-mentioned extremists, in addition to its openness to its neighbors and to various religions and faiths,” added the Iraqi leader.
“I renew my call to Saudi Arabia and to the Crown Prince in particular, to rebuild the holy graves of Baqi al-Gharqad for that is God’s satisfaction and an end to sectarian conflicts that filled the region and increased after its destruction.”
