Kuwaiti Shias organize protest to mark International Baqi Day and commemorate the tragedy of the demolition of al-Baqi
A crowd of Ahlulbayt followers and followers of the Supreme Religious Authority, Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi, held a peaceful stand in the State of Kuwait on Friday in protest against the tragedy of demolishing the graves of the Imams of al-Baqi, peace be upon them.
The stand, in which men, women and children participated, came in solidarity with the calls of His Eminence, Grand Ayatollah al-Shirazi, to designate the eighth day of the holy month of Shawwal as the International Day of al-Baqi, in commemoration of this painful tragedy that befell the Islamic nation more than nine decades ago, at the hands of Wahhabi groups.
The organizers expressed, in separate conversations with Shia Waves, great sadness and sympathy for this painful memory.
The participants said, “On the eighth day of the month of Shawwal, the most heinous crime was done against the graves of the imams of al-Baqi, peace be upon them.”
They called on the Islamic nation to participate in the commemoration of the International Baqi Day by various means to bring the issue to the international level.
