International Nonviolence Organization condemns the military coup in Myanmar
The International Nonviolence Organization, Free Muslim, expressed its deep concern and condemnation of the dangerous events taking place in Myanmar, namely the recent military coup that toppled the legitimate elected government, calling on the army to respect the democratic choice of the people and the necessity of its commitment to human rights standards.
The organization said in a statement, received by Shiawaves, that the recent military coup is leading the state and the people into a dark tunnel that may have unfortunate consequences, especially as it came at a sensitive time and is not commensurate with the current time when military coups are no longer universally accepted.
Free Muslim stressed the importance of returning the reins of affairs in the hands of democratic institutions as soon as possible.
The organization also stated that the safety and security of civilians is the responsibility of the military authorities in Myanmar, warning of any acts of violence or retaliation that may occur.
