Museum and monument documenting the terrorist crimes of ISIS against the Yazidis
The mayor of the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, Alaa Maan, announced that a museum and monument will be established in the capital to document the genocide against the followers of the Yazidi sect by ISIS.
A statement by the local government stated, “The Mayor of Baghdad chairs the meeting of the Diwaniya Order Committee issued by the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, concerning the implementation of a museum and a monument documenting the crimes of ISIS against the Yazidi people.”
The statement continued, “The Mayor of Baghdad submitted a proposal that the museum building contain a research center concerned with intellectual diversity, spreading the spirit of tolerance and combating violence and extremism,” stressing that the Municipality of Baghdad will work to find a distinguished site for the monument and the museum while preparing a thorough study of the project’s details.
The mayor also stressed the necessity of completing studies and bills of quantities and determining the cost of the project through the advisory bodies to initiate implementation.
