Over a million mourners have flocked to the holy city of Kadhimiya in the Iraqi capital Baghdad in recent days to mark the martyrdom anniversary of the ninth Shia Imam, Imam Jawad, peace be upon him. Martyred at the age of 25, Imam Jawad is known to have lived the shortest life compared to other Shia Imams, peace be upon them. Despite his young age, he’s left behind profound teachings on Islamic law, theology and ethics which are still taught in Islamic seminaries.
