Renewed clashes rock Tripoli despite ceasefire claims

Fresh clashes erupted in Libya’s Tripoli on Wednesday between the Radaa force and the 444 Brigade, just a day after authorities declared an end to the violence, news outlets reported. Fighting spread across key parts of the capital, including the port and southern districts, and involved both light and heavy weapons. Though combat subsided by evening, schools remained closed.

No official death toll was released, but the Red Crescent recovered a body from a major street. Tensions escalated as Radaa received reinforcements, and over 500 people rallied in support of the group in its stronghold, Souq el-Joumaa.

The unrest follows Monday night’s violence that killed at least six people. Libya remains divided between rival administrations in Tripoli and the east. International actors, including the UN and several Western embassies, have called for an immediate ceasefire and protection of civilians.
