Pakistan Army kills eight militants in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa operations

The Pakistan Army said on Monday that eight militants from the Pakistani Taliban (TTP) were killed and one soldier died in a series of operations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), three militants were killed in North Waziristan, while another two were eliminated in South Waziristan, where one Pakistani soldier also lost his life.

Security forces also killed three more militants in Khyber and Bannu districts. Weapons and explosives were recovered during the operations, and sanitization efforts are ongoing to clear remaining threats, ISPR said. Reports indicate that the TTP has increased attacks on Pakistani security forces since a ceasefire with Islamabad collapsed in late 2022.

Pakistan continues to blame Afghanistan for harboring TTP militants, a claim denied by Kabul. These operations come amid a broader surge in militancy in Pakistan, including in the southwestern province of Balochistan, where separatist groups have also intensified their activities.
