The number of fatalities from last week’s oil tanker explosion in southwest Pakistan has risen to 19, local authorities confirmed on Monday. The incident occurred on April 28 in Nushki district, Balochistan province, after an oil tanker caught fire near a market.
As bystanders attempted to extinguish the flames, the vehicle suddenly exploded, causing widespread casualties. Over 40 people were injured, many of whom were transferred to hospitals in Karachi for specialized treatment.
Muhammad Hasan Mengal, a local police official, stated that investigations are underway to determine whether negligence played a role in the blast.
