UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres extended his “warmest wishes” to Muslims worldwide as they prepare for the holy month of Ramadan. In a video message, he highlighted the values of compassion, empathy, and generosity that define the month, calling it a time to reconnect with family and support those in need.

Guterres expressed solidarity with those facing hardship in conflict zones such as Gaza, Sudan, and the Sahel, emphasizing his support for those observing Ramadan under difficult circumstances.

Reflecting on his tradition of visiting Muslim-majority countries during Ramadan, he noted that these visits showcase the “true face of Islam” and inspire a sense of peace, encouraging people to embrace shared humanity and work toward a more just and peaceful world.
