Gaza residents remain in limbo following Trump’s plan of deportation

Since the war on Gaza began on 7 October 2023, over 48,000 Palestinians have reportedly been killed and nearly 12,000 injured, local and international reports said. While the UN stated that 70% of the victims were children and women.

OCHA reported that at least 369 aid workers, including 263 UNRWA staff, have been killed. Nearly 200 journalists have also died in Israeli bombardments.

About 90% of the population of Gaza have been displaced and forced to live in deteriorating humanitarian circumstances, according to rights groups, leaving almost 350,000 children under the age of five at risk of starvation.

A ceasefire between Israel and Hamas took effect on 19 January 2025, after 15 months of war. Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump proposed relocating Gaza residents to Egypt and Jordan, a plan widely rejected by Arab nations.
