Bomb blast kills five people in Afghanistan’s Kunduz province

At least five people were killed and seven others wounded in a suicide bombing near a Kabul Bank branch in Afghanistan’s northeastern Kunduz province, police reported.
The explosion occurred at 8:35 a.m. local time (04:05 GMT) on Tuesday. According to Kunduz police, the attacker detonated explosives near the bank, killing a security guard and four others, including civilians and Taliban members.
Authorities are investigating the incident and searching for those responsible. While no group has claimed responsibility, armed factions such as ISIL (ISIS) continue to pose a security threat in Afghanistan.
In 2021, a suicide bombing at a Shia mosque in Kunduz killed dozens, an attack claimed by ISIL’s affiliate in Khorasan Province (ISKP). Last year, a similar attack outside a bank in Kandahar left at least three dead.
