Egypt has unveiled the second edition of its National Artificial Intelligence Strategy (2025–2030), aiming to establish itself as a leading AI hub in the Middle East and Africa, local news reports said.
The strategy, developed by the National Council for Artificial Intelligence, builds on its 2021 predecessor and focuses on six pillars: governance, technology, data, infrastructure, ecosystem, and talent.
The initiative supports the “Digital Egypt” program and aims to foster socio-economic growth by enabling over 250 AI companies and increasing AI’s contribution to GDP to $42.7 billion (7.7%) by 2030.
Globally, AI is projected to add $15.7 trillion to the economy by 2030, with the Middle East capturing $320 billion. Egypt’s plan includes integrating AI into education, expanding professional development, and strengthening international partnerships.
Up to 26% of Egypt’s workforce is expected to benefit from AI applications, with the number of AI professionals projected to reach 30,000 by 2030.
