The Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament announced on Saturday his intention to legislate a law aimed at safeguarding the rights of Quran memorizers in Iraq. This announcement was made during a central ceremony held in Baghdad to honor 1,000 male and female Quran memorizers as part of the “Divine Memorizer” initiative.
In a word he delivered during the ceremony, Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani emphasized the significance of Quran memorizers, stating, “These memorizers carry the trust of knowledge and action. They must serve as role models in truthfulness and generosity, as the Holy Quran nurtures the soul and refines behavior.”
Al-Mashhadani also reiterated the Parliament’s commitment to enacting a special law to ensure the rights of Quran memorizers, praising their role in spreading Islamic teachings and noble values, describing the celebration of 1,000 memorizers as “a living testament that this nation is still thriving,” expressing pride in those he described as bearers of a great trust.
For his part, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani congratulated the participants on completing their Quran memorization, commending the “Divine Memorizer” initiative recently launched in Iraq to encourage Quran memorization and support efforts to promote religious values.
It is worth mentioning that the “Divine Memorizer” initiative aims to enable younger generations to learn the Holy Quran and provide a supportive environment for its memorization, reaffirming Iraq’s role in preserving religious heritage and upholding Islamic values.
