Iraq’s Ministry of Culture announced the recovery of over 10,000 stolen and smuggled artifacts, with efforts ongoing to retrieve more in collaboration with international partners.
Artifacts were recovered from countries including the U.S., Norway, Jordan, Italy, and the UK, with plans to reclaim additional pieces from Britain, Lebanon, and France. Officials emphasized that challenges remain, particularly with items looted from unregistered archaeological sites.
Iraq is also hosting 25 international excavation teams from nations like the U.S., Germany, Italy, and France to enhance archaeological research and discoveries. These efforts underscore Iraq’s dedication to preserving its rich heritage.
