Luton mosques unite for winter food drive
Thirteen mosques and Islamic centers in Luton, Bedfordshire, have launched a joint winter food drive to support low-income families and tackle rising food insecurity.
In collaboration with Inspire FM, the initiative aims to raise over £5,000 to supply the city’s food bank with essential items. Salma Khan, Luton Food Bank supervisor, highlighted the critical need for donations during winter as demand surges.
Mohammed Tariq from Inspire FM praised the effort, emphasizing its reflection of Islamic values of solidarity and support for the vulnerable.
This initiative marks the first large-scale cooperation among Luton’s Muslim community in a shared charitable project, showcasing the power of collective action in addressing humanitarian challenges.
