Arab Parliamentary Union condemns Israeli threats against Iraq, calls for International action
The Arab Parliamentary Union has issued a statement expressing its full support for Iraq and strongly condemning Israeli threats of aggression against Iraqi territory. The statement described these threats as a blatant violation of international law, the UN Charter, and the principle of respecting state sovereignty.
The statement, issued by Mr. Ibrahim Boughali, President of the Arab Parliamentary Union and Speaker of the People’s National Assembly of Algeria, conveyed the union’s deep concern over the serious escalation posed by these threats.
The union reaffirmed its solidarity with Iraq, noting that these threats are part of Israel’s ongoing series of aggressions that have caused humanitarian disasters and widespread destruction in Palestine and Lebanon.
The Arab Parliamentary Union called on the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, to assume its legal and moral responsibilities and to act to stop Israel’s escalating policies, which risk dragging the region into a full-scale and dangerous war that would undermine international peace and security.
