Rights groups urge global action to protect Yemeni children

On World Children’s Day, 22 human rights organizations called for urgent measures to shield Yemeni children from violence, forced recruitment, and severe violations caused by a decade of war. The organizations highlighted grave abuses, including killings, forced conscription, and denial of humanitarian aid.

They demanded international accountability mechanisms, rehabilitation of damaged schools, and reintegration of out-of-school children, prioritizing vulnerable groups.

UNICEF reports over 11,500 children killed or injured since the conflict began, while local monitors documented over 280 violations between February 2023 and September 2024.

The groups also warned of worsening child malnutrition due to reduced aid and urged the inclusion of child protection in future peace talks.
