Kazakhstan sees growing interest in developing halal industry
Kazakhstan has seen growing interest in developing its halal industry in recent years, not just from a religious perspective but also as an economic and social opportunity to boost exports and stimulate the local economy.
According to global reports, halal products are increasingly favored, not only by Muslims but also by those seeking natural, healthy, and safe options.
Key regulatory bodies oversee this sector, including Halal Damu, affiliated with the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kazakhstan, which ensures products comply with Islamic law and distributes them locally.
The state-owned KazStandard monitors production processes and issues certifications for companies operating in the local and international markets. Additionally, the independent Halal Industry Association of Kazakhstan plays a critical role in certifying products and ensuring they meet Islamic and global standards.
Annual events like HALAL EXPO are organized to showcase Kazakhstan’s potential in the halal market, bolstering its presence in regional and global markets, particularly in Asia and the Middle East.
