Iraqi airstrike kills four ISIS suspects in Kirkuk province

An Iraqi airstrike on Saturday killed four suspected ISIS members in Kirkuk province, the army reported. The operation, coordinated by the Joint Operations Command’s Targeting Cell, tracked the group for two days in the Zaghaitoun Valley before launching an F-16 strike that destroyed their hideout.

This operation marks the latest effort to eliminate ISIS remnants operating in disputed territories between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government. The extremist group, which controlled large areas of Iraq in 2014, was defeated in 2017 but continues to exploit security gaps.

Last week, a similar strike killed four ISIS suspects in Kirkuk, bringing the total number of ISIS members killed this year to over 100, according to the military.
