Grand Ayatollah Shirazi urges collective effort to combat spread of atheism among youth
The Supreme Religious Authority, Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi, emphasized the necessity of collective efforts to promote faith-based values among youth in the face of the growing phenomenon of atheism, warning against any negligence in this important task.
The Grand Marja pointed out that atheists have managed to direct their atheistic ideology towards Muslim youth, while the impact of Islamic faith has not reached their youth, nor even our own. He affirmed that “this is a responsibility that rests upon everyone.”
His Eminence called for increased efforts from religious institutions, scholars, and those involved in education and media to clarify the noble message of Islam and convey it to young people through languages and methods that resonate with their interests and aspirations.
He added that this role does not fall solely on religious institutions but requires societal cooperation, including the family, schools, and all educational and cultural institutions.
Grand Ayatollah Shirazi’s statements come amid growing discussions about the phenomenon of atheism and its impact on youth worldwide, reflecting the importance of awareness efforts to reinforce faith as a core value in confronting contemporary intellectual challenges.
