Donald Trump declares victory in US presidential election 2024
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump declared early Wednesday that he had won the U.S. presidential election against his Democratic rival, Kamala Harris, emphasizing plans to address border issues.
Trump won Pennsylvania, securing 267 electoral votes. In a series of statements following the announcement, he said, “We won in the swing states,” describing his victory as a “political win like never before in our country’s history.”
Concerning the border crisis, Trump stated, “We will correct our border situation and have made history by overcoming many obstacles,” adding that he had secured approximately 315 electoral votes.
Trump thanked the American people for granting him a new term and noted that his campaign had helped the Republicans regain control of the Senate, with hopes of maintaining a majority in the House.
He pledged to “improve conditions in the country” through tax cuts, job creation, and economic growth, and promised to “close the borders to criminals,” working to “restore America’s greatness.”
