Minarets of Holy Shrine of honourable companion, Rashid Al-Hajri, in Iraq’s Babylon renovated

Engineering and artistic teams are continuing renovation and expansion efforts at the shrine of the honourable companion Rashid Al-Hajri in Babylon Province, under the supervision of the Secretariat-General of the Shia Holy Shrines.

The project involves cladding the shrine’s minarets with Karbala-style decorative tiles, featuring brightly colored Islamic floral designs, enhancing the sanctity and beauty of the religious site.

Rashid Al-Hajri was one of the elite companions of the Commander of the Faithful and Imam al-Hasan, peace be upon them. He received ‘Ilm al-Balaya wa l-Manaya (the knowledge of calamities and (time of) deaths) from Imam Ali, peace be upon him, who foretold Al-Hajri’s martyrdom by the enemy of Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, Ubayd Allah b. Ziyad.

It should be mentioned that the province of Babylon, located about 85 kilometers (55 miles) south of Iraq’s capital Baghdad, embraces the largest number of holy shrines and archeological sites, which attract a large number of tourists from around the world.
