Gunmen attacked a coal mine in Pakistan’s Balochistan province, killing 20 miners and wounding seven others late Thursday night, news reports said.
The assailants stormed the miners’ accommodations in Duki district, opened fire, and left most victims from Pashtun areas of Balochistan, with some Afghans among the casualties.
While no group has claimed responsibility, the province is known for separatist unrest, and the attack occurred just days before a major security summit in Islamabad.
