Over 26M children deprived of education in Pakistan, ministry says

The Ministry of Education in Pakistan has announced that 26.2 million children across the country are not enrolled in schools, revealing a serious educational crisis facing Pakistan. These figures were disclosed during a session of the National Assembly.

According to the report, 17.74 million children aged between 5 and 9 years are out of school, including 4.97 million boys and 5.81 million girls, highlighting a clear gap in access to education at this age level.

In the age group of 10 to 12 years, 4.93 million children are deprived of middle education, comprising 2.11 million boys and 2.83 million girls, indicating a significant imbalance in educational opportunities between genders.

For secondary education, there are 4.55 million students lacking adequate education, with 2.31 million boys and 2.24 million girls. The report also shows that the number of students not enrolled in higher secondary education reaches 5.95 million, including 2.99 million boys and 2.96 million girls.

This alarming situation reflects enormous challenges facing the educational system in the country and underscores the urgent need for concerted efforts to bridge educational gaps and achieve equality in access to education.
