The Freemuslim Association, an international anti-violence organization, celebrated the International Day of Democracy, which is observed on September 15th, affirming its support for the United Nations’ efforts to promote democracy worldwide and eradicate dictatorships and totalitarian regimes.
In a statement received by Shia Waves Agency, the organization emphasized the importance of this event, noting that the International Day of Democracy represents global recognition of the illegitimacy of tyranny and the right of every individual and community to choose a system of governance that meets their aspirations.
The International association added that democracy allows individuals the freedom to participate in political decision-making and to elect leaders capable of meeting the needs of the people.
In its message addressed to the leaders of Islamic countries, the organization called for the necessity of implementing political reforms that guarantee the right to political participation and freedom of expression without fear of consequences.
It also stressed the importance of enhancing transparency and combating corruption, while emphasizing the need for the fair distribution of wealth and peaceful transitions of power to ensure the prosperity and stability of societies.
