Iraq is preparing to embark on a crucial phase of its long-awaited national population census, which will include surveying buildings and households across the country, including the Kurdistan Region.
The Iraqi Planning Ministry announced on Sunday that this phase is considered the most important, as it gathers detailed data on the housing sector and population statistics.
According to ministry spokesperson Abdul Zahra al-Hindawi, a total of 30,000 well-trained researchers will be involved in the census, which will be conducted across Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. The census planned for 2020 was postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic.
