International Women’s Quran Competition kicks off in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

Organized by the Muslim World League in collaboration with the Supreme Council of Muslims in Tanzania (BAKWATA), the International Women’s Quran Competition commenced in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, on Saturday, August 31, 2024.

The competition is taking place at the Benjamin Mkapa National Football Stadium, featuring participants from 11 countries.

The event includes multiple categories of Quran memorization, ranging from memorizing a single Juz (part) to memorizing the entire 30 Juzs. The top three winners in each category will be honored, encouraging excellence and distinction in memorizing the Holy Quran.

The opening ceremony was attended by high-profile figures. This competition is part of ongoing efforts to promote the recitation and memorization of the Quran among Muslim women internationally.

One of the key highlights of the event is the unveiling of a digital Quran, showcased on the sidelines of the competition. This technological addition reflects the modern advancements in the digital dissemination of the Quran.

The International Women’s Quran Competition in Dar es Salaam aims to highlight the leading role of Muslim women in memorizing and teaching the Holy Quran, as well as to strengthen international Islamic cooperation in this important spiritual field.
