Shiite Victims of violence, oppression in Pakistan voice concern

A number of scholars and families of missing Shiites in Pakistan expressed their concern about the increase in violence against the Shiite community in Pakistan by holding a protest rally in the city of Karachi.

The protesters demanded that the missing Shia youths must be recovered immediately, otherwise the Shia community of Pakistan will not remain silent.

The families of the missing Shias have accused the government and federal institutions of Pakistan of neglecting the events related to the Shiites, adding that innocent Shia youths have been missing for years.

Given the promises of the political leaders and the army of Pakistan to follow up and recover the missing Shiite youth, the protesters emphasized that if the disregard and disrespect towards the Shiites continue, they will expand the protests to the whole of Pakistan.

Earlier, in several Shia cities of Pakistan, assemblies and sit-ins were organized in protest against the kidnapping and disappearance of Shia youths.

According to reports, over the past two months, more than 10 Shia youths have been forcibly disappeared in Karachi alone, mostly arrested on false charges. Some remain missing while others were released on bail.
