ISNA hosts 61st Annual Convention in Dallas, welcoming 20,000 attendees
The 61st annual convention of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) has officially begun at the Anatole Convention Centre in Dallas, attracting an estimated 20,000 participants. This event, organized by the largest representative body of Muslims in North America, marks the first time in ISNA’s history that the convention is being held in Dallas.
On Friday, ISNA President Safaa Zarzour, along with other officials, held a press conference to announce the participation of over 150 prominent speakers at the convention.
The event will feature a variety of activities, including roundtable discussions, interfaith receptions, and an expansive ISNA Bazaar with more than 350 booths. Attendees can also enjoy recreational activities such as sports, entertainment programs, and Qawwali sessions.
The inaugural ceremony, which took place after Friday prayers, was attended by a diverse group of officials, community leaders, and members of different faiths. The convention is not only a gathering for Muslims but also welcomes individuals from other faiths, international leaders, and senior government officials from various levels, including representatives from the White House.
One of the primary objectives of the convention is to foster peace and goodwill among people of various faiths. ISNA’s leadership emphasized the importance of addressing the challenges faced by the Muslim community in North America and applying pressure on American officials to resolve international issues affecting Muslims, such as the situations in Palestine, Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK), and Sudan.
Established in 1963, ISNA has been actively working for the welfare of Muslims in the United States and Canada. This convention serves as a platform to highlight the role of religion in addressing societal challenges and fostering positive social change.
