An Israeli airstrike has killed at least ten people in Nabatiyeh, a town in southern Lebanon, CNN said Saturday citing Lebanon’s Ministry of Health. In response to the attack, Hezbollah launched multiple retaliatory rockets targeting Israel.
All of the victims in Lebanon were Syrian nationals, including a woman and her two children, according to the ministry’s statement. The strike also left at least five people injured, two of whom are in critical condition.
Among the wounded are three Syrians, one Sudanese, and one Lebanese individual, the ministry added. Two of the Syrians are in critical condition and are undergoing surgery at a nearby hospital.
This death toll marks one of the highest in southern Lebanon since Israel’s military campaign against Gaza began on October 7.
