According to new UN projections reported by The Guardian, the global population is anticipated to peak sooner and at a lower level than previously expected.
The analysis suggests that the population will reach approximately 10.3 billion by the mid-2080s, an increase from the current 8.2 billion.
It is then projected to decline to around 10.2 billion by the end of the century, which is 6% lower than predictions from a decade ago.
Sixty-three countries, including Germany, China, and Russia, have already reached their population peak, and another 48 countries, such as Brazil, Turkey, and Vietnam, are expected to peak by 2054.
The remaining 126 countries will continue to see population growth and will need to consider how to balance environmental impact with the needs of their increasing populations, according to the UN.
