Indian authorities have suspended six police and government officials for “negligence” following a stampede in Uttar Pradesh last week that resulted in 121 deaths, Reuters reported.
This stampede, one of the deadliest in India in recent years, occurred when approximately 250,000 people attended a Hindu religious event, significantly exceeding the authorized limit of 80,000.
A preliminary investigation report released on Tuesday blamed the event organizers for not adhering to the conditions set for the gathering.
