Japan introduces giant human-like robot to maintain train lines
West Japan Railway has introduced a new humanoid robot to assist with maintenance work on their network, The Guardian reported.
The robot, equipped with enormous arms and a small head with cameras for eyes, can be operated remotely by an operator sitting in a cockpit on a truck.
With a vertical reach of 12 meters and the ability to carry objects up to 40kg, the robot will primarily focus on trimming tree branches along rails and painting metal frames.
According to the manufacturing company, this technology aims to address worker shortages in Japan and reduce accidents.
