Muslim Scholars League strongly condemns Tajikistan’s decision to ban hijab

The Muslim Scholars League has issued a strongly worded statement condemning the recent ban on Muslim women wearing hijab in public places in Tajikistan.

The league expressed its complete rejection of this unjust ban on the Islamic headscarf, considering it a blatant violation of the rights of Muslim women and their freedom to practice Islamic rituals.

In its statement, the league urged official religious institutions and figures to fulfill their duty in clarifying the sanctity of wearing the hijab and defending the rights of Muslim women.

The league affirmed its full support for the Muslim people of Tajikistan, particularly the Muslim women, and their adherence to their religion, hijab, Islamic rituals.

It announced its support for the Muslim protest in Tajikistan, scheduled for today under the title “Hijab Day,” calling on all Muslims to participate in expressing their rejection of the hijab ban and defending the rights of Muslim women.

It should be mentioned that the Tajikistan parliament recently issued a controversial decision banning women from wearing burqas and niqabs, justifying the decision as an attempt to promote national culture and traditions in the face of imported culture and to combat religious extremism.
