Massive fire engulfs Copenhagen’s historic Stock Exchange

A massive fire has swept through the historic old stock exchange in Copenhagen, a prominent landmark in the Danish capital.

The flames, occurred on Tuesday, caused the spire of the building to collapse, prompting employees and residents to rush to save paintings and valuable artifacts from the inferno.

The Chamber of Commerce expressed deep sorrow and shock over the significant tragedy, stating that it is a somber day for the nation and acknowledging that the resulting damage will incur substantial costs.

The historic stock exchange, situated just a short walk from Christiansborg Palace, was constructed in 1625 in the Dutch Renaissance architectural style at the behest of King Christian IV. It had been undergoing refurbishments, with its exterior concealed by scaffolding and protective materials.
