Austria hosts Ramadan Iftar event for over 1000 Muslims and non-Muslims

The Austrian daily newspaper “Kleine Zeitung” reported today on the hosting of the largest Iftar meal, gathering more than 1000 Muslims and non-Muslims in the central festival square of the city of Klagenfurt.

The newspaper, in a special report translated by Shia Waves Agency, stated that the event, titled “Peace Be Upon You” as indicated by the sign at the entrance of the square, was organized by the Association of Muslim Youth in Austria as the largest event of its kind in the city.

The association members expressed their intention to hold even larger versions of this event in the coming years.

The report quoted the association’s president, Mario Al-Shami, saying in an interview that the purpose of such activities is to create a large gathering between the Muslim community and local communities, as well as to provide an opportunity for getting to know each other.

According to the Austrian newspaper, the event included various intellectual and cultural activities, such as Quranic recitations and a congregational prayer described as an “impressive sight” that the city had not witnessed before.
