The UN High Commissioner for Refugees described the crisis in Yemen as “one of the largest humanitarian crises in the world.”
In a post on its official account on the X platform, the agency pointed out that the number of internally displaced persons in Yemen is 4.5 million, while 18.2 million people are in need of humanitarian assistance.
The UN agency confirmed that Yemen hosts around 70,000 refugees and asylum seekers, making the humanitarian situation in the country even more complex.
It reiterated its call for continued international support for Yemen, emphasizing the need to enhance humanitarian efforts and provide assistance continuously.
It is worth noting that Yemen is currently experiencing a relative calm after years of war that began nine years ago, leading to a significant deterioration in the humanitarian and economic conditions in the country.
