Holy shrines in Iraq commemorate “World Quran Day”
Several holy shrines and Shia places of worship in Iraq hosted gatherings and events to commemorate the World Quran Day and the National Quran Day, in a wide-ranging Quranic manifestation that emphasized the significance of the Noble Quran.
The occasion coincided with the celebration of the Iraqi National Quran Day, as declared by the Prime Minister, on the occasion of the Holy Prophet’s al-Mab’ath an-Nabawi marked on the 27th of Rajab.
The Secretariat-General of the Holy Shrines in Iraq emphasized the importance of holding such Quranic events “to promote the culture of the Noble Quran and the sciences of Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, who embody the justice of the Noble Quran.”
The event was attended by large numbers of international and local Quran reciters, as well as a large crowd of believers and worshippers in the places where the event was held.
The participants stressed “the importance of further promoting the divine Quranic message and spreading its culture globally, especially in the face of continuous attacks on the sanctity of the Noble Quran.”
They explained that “the Shias in Iraq are committed to the teachings of the Noble Quran and Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, as recommended by the Messenger of Mercy and Humanity, Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him and his pure family.”
