Violent Clashes Displace 15,000 People in Western Myanmar
Intense fighting between Myanmar’s military junta and insurgent groups in Chin State has forced over 15,000 people to flee their homes in the past two days, leaving parts of the town of Tedim in smouldering ruins, RFA reported yesterday.
Three civilians have been killed in the violence, the source mentioned.
According to the news agency, the military has carried out airstrikes against camps of the anti-junta Zoland People’s Defense Force, as well as two villages controlled by the rebel Arakan Army, resulting in two more civilian casualties.
The unrest is part of ongoing efforts by opponents to defeat the junta that seized power in the 2021 coup.
