Heavy Weapon Attack in Myanmar’s Rakhine State Leaves Two Dead, 15 Injured

On Saturday, a heavy weapons attack in western Myanmar’s Rakhine State resulted in the deaths of two people and left 15 others injured, Xinhua reported yesterday citing the State Administration Council’s Information Team.

The attack, carried out by the Arakan Army, struck a high school compound in Buthidaung Township around 1 a.m. local time. The victims included internally displaced persons sheltering at the school, as well as local residents.

“The injured included four children aged between one and five years old,” the report stated. Local authorities transported the injured to a nearby military hospital for treatment.
