Heavy rains and landslides have caused widespread devastation across Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Assam, and Punjab, leaving at least 77 people dead, dozens missing, and hundreds stranded, the Daily Sun reported. In Uttarakhand, 15 fatalities were recorded, with 16 people still unaccounted for, as rivers overflowed and landslides flattened homes and blocked roads.

Dehradun was hit hardest, including eight Moradabad residents swept away by the River Tons. Hundreds were rescued from stranded locations, including 400–500 students from Devbhoomi Institute in Paundha. In Himachal Pradesh, landslides and flash floods claimed four lives, including three members of a family in Mandi district.

Shimla experienced road blockages and property damage due to landslides and high winds reaching 37 kmph. Assam faced a second wave of floods this monsoon season, affecting over 22,000 residents and killing two, as tributaries of the Brahmaputra and Barak rivers surged past danger levels.

Punjab reported unprecedented agricultural losses, with floods submerging nearly 1.92 lakh hectares across 18 districts, affecting over 400,000 people and claiming 52 lives. Authorities warned of continued rainfall and urged heightened precautions to mitigate further human and economic losses.
