Four Muslim Men Brutally Attacked in Aligarh Over Cow Meat Suspicion

Four Muslim men were severely beaten by a mob in Aligarh on Saturday after being falsely accused of transporting cow meat, Muslim Mirror reported. The victims—truck driver Saleem Khan, his nephew Aqeel Ibrahim, and two laborers—were intercepted by vigilantes demanding ₹50,000 as extortion. When they refused, the mob assaulted them with iron rods, looted their belongings, and torched their truck. Police later confirmed the meat was legal buffalo meat, not beef.

The victims, hospitalized with critical injuries, were rescued after delayed police intervention. An FIR names 13 accused, including Ramkumar Arya and Arjun “Bholu,” under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Authorities seized the meat for testing and verified the transport permits as valid.

Local activists condemned the attack as part of a pattern of anti-Muslim violence under the guise of cow protection. The incident has drawn minimal national attention, fueling criticism of institutional apathy. Investigations continue, but convictions in similar past cases remain rare.
