Ten Rohingya Booked for Illegal Stay in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh

Ten suspected Rohingya refugees from Myanmar have been booked for allegedly living illegally in the Gangaghat area of Unnao district, Business Standard reported. The local police registered a First Information Report (FIR) under the Foreigners Act after the individuals failed to provide valid identity documents during questioning.
According to Gangaghat SHO Pramod Mishra, the Rohingya were residing in huts near the banks of the Ganga river. The complaint was filed by Balughat Outpost in-charge Gajendra Singh, following suspicions about their legal status.
The police also noted that the dialect spoken by the group was foreign and different from local languages, further raising concerns about their identity. The investigation is ongoing to verify their status and take appropriate action.
This incident highlights continuing challenges related to the presence of Rohingya refugees in India, many of whom have fled persecution in Myanmar. Authorities remain vigilant in monitoring undocumented migrants in the region.
