Controversy Erupts Over Admission of Rohingya Children in Delhi Government Schools

A controversy has erupted between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) regarding the admission of Rohingya children in Delhi government schools, following a Supreme Court order, The Indian Express reported. Last week, several Rohingya children were admitted to state-run schools, prompting AAP MLA Anil Jha to accuse the BJP of “hypocrisy” and claiming that the government has “robbed Delhi’s children of their rights.”

Jha highlighted that around 10 Rohingya children were admitted in Karawal Nagar, despite BJP leaders labeling them as Bangladeshi infiltrators. The Rohingya issue was a significant topic during the recent Delhi Assembly election campaign, with both parties accusing each other of “appeasement.”

In response, Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor criticized Jha for misleading the public, stating that the admission order stemmed from a Supreme Court petition filed in December 2024.
