Increasing Violence by Hindutva Groups Amid Christmas Celebrations

Recent events have raised concerns over the rising aggression of Hindutva organizations during the Christmas season, Muslim Mirror reported.

Despite Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statements advocating love and harmony, vigilante groups have attacked individuals celebrating Christmas. Notably, two men dressed as Santa Claus were assaulted at the Kankaria Carnival in Ahmedabad, reflecting a broader trend of hostility towards Christmas festivities.

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat recently urged restraint, stating that disputes over religious sites should not be fueled by hate. However, fringe organizations within the Hindutva movement appear to disregard these calls, continuing to promote violence and intolerance.

The ongoing tension raises questions about the complicity of political leaders and law enforcement in allowing such acts to persist. Critics argue that the impunity enjoyed by these groups signals a troubling shift in societal norms, where hate speech and violence are increasingly normalized.
